We live in perilous times, when the Lord will cut out a stone from the mountain and let this stone cover the whole earth. But we were not to do this alone. Ninety-seven years ago, a leader was born to help us navigate through the treacherous waters of our time and, despite the murky waters, still make a glorious and uplifting journey through this dispensation.
The world lost that great leader several hours ago. Millions across the globe mourned the passing of Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known to many as Mormons.
Those who knew him found him to be genuinely concerned about every living being on the planet—ever mindful of their divine nature—and constantly teaching about the God of the universe. Whether in his unforgettable talks and speeches, short or long interviews with the media, brief handshakes or lengthy meetings, his life was a living object lesson on coming to Christ. With his quick wit and peppery humor, he has put his unique stamp on the lives of 12 million members of the Church across the globe and many more who are not members of the Church.
We will miss you, dear prophet. This blog has been created to remember and celebrate your life.
Let us continue to bring the Church out of obscurity, just as President Hinckley envisioned. Let’s declare our faith to the world, our love for Jesus Christ and his chosen leaders. Let us uplift one another to make this journey one of love and pure joy—so that the stone cut out of the mountain will roll forth nobly and boldly, without apology.
Everyone is welcome to share thoughts and photos about President Hinckley. Send them to the owners of this blog through lightdream (at) gmail (dot) com and kirsch1215 (at) yahoo (dot) com so that we can post them. Hope to hear from you soon!
